Reflections from 2024
As 2024 comes to an end, it’s time to celebrate that this year has been nothing short of amazing. Here’s a quick highlight reel:
Back to SAP Bliss: I returned to my beloved SAP projects, taking on the role of Change Practice Lead at Limelight Consulting and partnering with Harrods and SAP on an ambitious SAP S/4HANA transformation programme.
Book News: My first book, Super User Networks, published by British Computer Society, The Chartered Institute for IT, was nominated for Business Book of the Year. Didn't win but what an honour to be thought of. But what really made my year was I finished my second book on 'Humans and AI: The Future of Work'. Early peer reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, it's so validating and humbling when other authors and thought leaders are excited about what you have written. Take a look at the carousel at the bottom of this website to see some of the reviews so far.
Following in My Footsteps: My 12-year-old son joined the ranks of published authors with his book The Mutated Man. Writing is officially a family business.
Blogging Stats: My tech articles here and on LinkedIn received an astounding 107,790 views this year. Thanks to everyone who enjoys my ramblings about digital transformation and the best practice tips on tech implementation.
Home Sweet Home: My partner and I bought a very cute house, where he's often found telling me to “stop working, you massive geek,” But then still brings me tea and KitKats as I carry on —clearly, he's a keeper.
London Calling: I'll never not want to call Yorkshire my home, but I’ve loved making the most of working in the city. Firstly I discovered my brother, also working hundreds of miles away his Yorkshire home, was based in the same London skyscraper as I was, by some bizarre coincidence. Then I've been very much enjoying the Knightsbridge and South Kensington area the most through my work with Harrods, and bowing to peer-pressure I had some nice outings bringing my son along for the touristy bits.
While 2024 has been a whirlwind, I’m buzzing with excitement about what’s to come next year:
- Book Two Launches: February will see the release of my second book, exploring the future of work with humans and AI. Fingers crossed it’ll spark some thought-provoking discussions.
- Book Three in the Works: Research continues on my third book, which delves into the history of resisting technology changes. Spoiler: Humans have always had a love-hate relationship with innovation.
- SAP Milestones: My 16th SAP go-live is on the horizon, this time with SAP S/4HANA and the launch of Enable Now to ensure long-term adoption. Here’s to making change stick!
- Change Management Magic: There’s plenty more to come with Limelight Consulting. I can’t wait to create some new innovative solutions.
- Writing and Advocacy: Expect more articles about tech implementation best practices and continued support for the amazing #WomenInTech community. It’s always a joy to champion other incredible talent.
A Final Thought
2024 reinforced something I’ve always known: digital transformation isn’t about the technology. It’s about people—understanding how humans navigate change and helping them embrace it.
Here’s to another year of learning, growing, and making tech projects a little more human. Let’s make 2025 the best yet!
